About the event
Dead Poets Society is a 1989 drama film directed by Peter Weir, starring Robin Williams as the unconventional English teacher John Keating. Set in 1959 at the prestigious and rigid Welton Academy, the movie follows a group of students who find their lives transformed by Keating's unorthodox teaching methods. He encourages them to "seize the day" (carpe diem) and think for themselves, challenging the school's strict pillars of tradition, honor, discipline, and excellence.
Inspired by Keating's past, the boys secretly resurrect an old literary club called the "Dead Poets Society," meeting to read poetry and rebel against conformity.
